New Boston
New Boston is home to natural beauty, thriving small businesses, and an active group of citizens. It may seem that New Boston is a town that famous writers, such as Frost and Thoreau once experienced, as it is beautiful for hiking in the many hills and woods, biking along quiet roads, and fishing in the Piscataquog River. It also hosts wonderful community events, such as the Hillsborough Fair, 4th of July celebrations, and even a few annual barn dances.
Community involvement is not new to New Boston. At its inception, 51 men gathered to petition for a six mile square grant of land for a township. The town was then distributed in to 63 equal shares, allowing one share each for the minister, the ministry, and a new school. These founding men were dedicated merchants and businessmen who wanted to govern themselves, their businesses, and provide a good school for their children.
Today, the businesses in New Boston are small in size, but very prosperous. They offer a wide range of professional and technical services, as well as nature and educational facilities.
