New Hampshire – The Ideal Tourist Destination

Seacoast, lakes and mountains, thriving small cities, picturesque villages, rolling farmland, and deep forests… New Hampshire has it all. It’s easy to pack a lot into your vacation, without a lot of driving, thanks to the state’s modest size: it’s just 100 miles at its widest point and only 200 miles from north to south. While it’s not always easy to generalize, it’s about 2 hours at most from New Hampshire’s eastern to western border, and 4 to 4 ½ hours at most from south to north.

Even if you only have a day or two, you can sample quite a bit of the state. For instance, you could have breakfast on the seacoast, and tour one of the many historic sites; then head north for lunch and an afternoon of shopping relaxing by a lake; then end the day with dinner in the mountains.

Freedom’s Way Heritage Area

Seven towns – Amherst, Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Mason, Milford and New Ipswich – of the Souhegan Valley form the northernmost area of Freedom’s Way Heritage Area. Encompassing 45 communities stretching from Malden to Winchendon and Dunstable in Massachusetts through the seven in Souhegan Valley, this area is so designated under the National Parks system for the rich history and the major events that have occurred here. The Revolutionary War marked a significant turning point in the world’s history. From that emerged a new nation, committed to self-governance and dedicated to new ideas about liberty and justice. Honoring the contributions to our American culture, Freedom’s Way celebrates the native landscape and natural resources, the milestone events and hallowed ground of democracy and the people who gave birth, direction and spirit to our country.
